My iMessage on my Mac isnt working

So I can't send or receive message on the iMessage on my Mac Book Pro (2011) . whenever I do try to send, it says "Your message could not be sent." and it gives me the options to "Ignore", "Go to Chat", or "Resend".

I went on the settings on my iPhone 5s, went to Messages, and toggled the iMessage. I thought maybe I could restart it.

I changed my Apple ID Password a couple days ago but i'm pretty sure I entered the new password on everything.

I also did a disk clean up about a week ago, but iMessage was working then (i think).

what should I do???

Thanks!

Hi,

On your iPhone I would deselect the Apple ID from the Send and Receive list as a temporary thing for a test.

On the Mac deselect the iPhone Number.

It should now be that the iPhone can only send from the iPhone Number and the Mac from the Apple ID.

Test send an iMessages from your Mac to the iPhone Number (Specifically set it to choose the iPhone number when you enter your Name (The "To" spot will act like a drop down).

If this work reply from the iPhone.

If this does not work then double check the Mac version has the "right " password.
